Noor Atiqah was arrested at the Kuala Lumpur Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT) in January 2009 when 342.1 grammes of heroin and 30.3 grammes of monoacethyl were found in a brown envelope, concealed in her luggage.
After meeting her Nigerian boyfriend Valentine, Iqah was persuaded to start a fashion business with him. She was on her way to Shenzhen to pick up some textile samples, and had been given that luggage by an acquaintance for her to store the samples in. She did not know that drugs had been hidden in the luggage.
The Shah Alam High Court sentenced Iqah to death in March 2011. She has two more rounds of appeals. She is a Singaporean single mother with a 6-year-old daughter.
